Default Chain woes

I bought a 42 thooth rear sprocket for my Wifes Warrior, during install found that I needed atleast one more link on the chain to get the sprocket to fit. Bought a new chain and cut it 2 links longer to fit the sprocket. This ended up being too long, 'cause when the chain stretched a bit after the first couple of rides I ran out of room to adjust. I took one more link out of the new chain, now it does'nt fit! Looks like its about 1/8" too short. I thought about just dropping the front sprocket to a 12 tooth to solve my delema, but I am nervous that the gearing may end up being too low. Any comments, suggestions, feed back about the gearing ratio or any other solutions to my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Don't those quads leave room for adjustment?? I know in our polaris's we have an egg shaped thing that lets you tighten and loosen the chain up(by turning this deal on the axle)....and it will loosen up about a link or more........

use the chain tensioner on the back of the warrior swingarm.... there are 2 long bolts and 2 bolts on the side; just make sure that the 2 bolts in the front are lined up equally on the indented lines when you figure out where u want it.
