Default ENGINE WORK!!!!!!!!

okay now that I got a pipe and stuff I want to do some engine work. I want to get a hot cam stage one and I need to know what piston I should go with and where to get it. I don't want to go too big with it and I am using the stock rod and I need it to be reliable!!!!! thanks for your .02
Matt
P.S I KNOW I SHOULD GET A HEADER AND PORT AND POLISH IT BUT I AM GOING TO BORE IT BECAUSE LAST TIME I HAD THE MOTOR APART THE CYLINDER WAS 20 THOUSANDS OVER, I BELIEVE. SO I NEED TO BORE IT AND I FIGURED WHY NOT CAM IT TOO!!! BUT, I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO BORE AND CAM AND THE HEADER AND THE PORT AND POLISH JOB!!!! THAT WILL COME LATER, UNLESS THE PORT AND POLISH IS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE.......HOW MUCH DOES IT RUN TO PORT AND POLISH?????????
SORRY FOR THE RAMBLE ON.

Default ENGINE WORK!!!!!!!!

there are many diff piston companies (wiseco, je, ross)
id go with 11:1 compression lil more reliable plus u dont have to run race gas
diff guys charge diff prices for head work depends on reputation i guess
i had mine done with stage 1 cam and wiseco 11:1 cant wait to try it out
cost me $300 plus parts

I was thinking of Wiseco. 11.1 huh? what size bore would that be? I order most my stuff from Rockymountainatv.com so I was wondering which would be the best from there?

A Port & Polish by someone who knows wtf they are doing and does a good job for a 5 valve will run you oooo about $650.00 + (for a racing port)

Some advice would be this... If you are going to open the head up do the P&P, CAM, & w/e else you need/want in one shot - if you cant afford it at once don’t do it! Usually doing all the head work at once will save you $$$$ if the guy is willing to work with you (and it’s just one less time or so you need to take the motor off the bike & re-jet).

To bore a sleeve will cost about 35 - 45$ depending on the mechanic and to re-sleeve and bore should cost around $75.00 - $100.00 depending on how much of a pain in the *** the old sleeve is to get out. You probably will want the guy to put your motor back together for you with the correct timing and bore kit install as well so that will cost about another 40 - $60.00 if he’s not to greedy (he may do it for free).

*Take your own motor off the bike and bring it to the guy - it will save you an *** load of money!!

Default ENGINE WORK!!!!!!!!

Well I do the engine work myself. All I need done is the boring and the port polishing. Rockymountain only has standard bore and .50 over and it doesn't say what compression so I am not sure wtf to order where should I order the piston?

650 seems like alot for port work
i only paid 300 hope mine was done right
to answer what compression: the more compression means more power less reliability
less means less power but more reliab

Default ENGINE WORK!!!!!!!!

Well there are different levels of port work from a mild job to all out race cant go any further deal. Also some places re-cut the seat so you have more volume overall & run flow & ionization tests to make sure everything is almost equal to each other (very important). 350$ seems VERY cheap for P&P job id question how much time they spent on it and how in depth they measured their work... But hey maybe you just got a REAL good deal bro but that is still very low none the less.

* Yea Powroll has been in the game for a long long long time they are usually VERY good on there information, customer support, and products.

*I have not heard about the gasket thing you are speaking of but it does not sound like a good idea X_X.
