Ehh are you sure it’s JUST a blown piston and not anything else ? When you say blown I take it you mean shattered.... If so and you know what you’re doing it's worth it but the case will have to be cracked to get the metal parts out of the bottom end... If you do not know what you are doing this can be very costly & providing nothing else is fscked up as well... Always be VERY cautious when thinking about buying bikes like these - you do not know what the internal damage is until you open her up.

You had a 250X, correct? If so, I think you will be dissapointed with the Blaster. Don't get me worng, it's a great beginner bike for a small person, but if you are over 5'6" you will feel cramped. In stock form it doesn't make a whole lot of power either, and the suspension is not that great. As for that deal, if you really want it, I would pull the head and cylinder and take a looksy at the crank and rod for damage. If that checks out, drain the oil from the tranny and look for metal shavings in the oil(2 strokes do not use motor oil to lubricate the engine, thats what 2 stroke oil is for ) If it all check out, I would offer him $1200-$1300. Price to fix it yourself would be about $150 for new piston kit, gaskets and a new bore job. If you do the work yourself, you don't have to split the cases, although I probably would. You could just pull the motor and flush the crank halves. The easiest way would be to use fresh gas, fill the crankcase with fuel, then turn the motor upside down and dump the fuel, repeat this several times. I had to do this to a little 80 once, and although time consuming it worked. Good luck.

5'7'-5'8" and i have some good times on my ol' blaster...still havn't sold it yet for some reason. DarkmanX if you got the blaster put a pipe on it and perk it up! Then put lime green plastic on it
But do a good check up on it! Even if you have to open her up. 2 strokes are mighty expensive cause once one thing starts to break it seems like everything starts to break!! I'm sure alot of you guys been there.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with it.

Really, 6'2" and ride a Blaster? I was only 5'7" the one and only time I rode a blaster and felt extremely cramped on it

2 strokes are mighty expensive cause once one thing starts to break it seems like everything starts to break!! I'm sure alot of you guys been there.
That is partially correct. My R motor seemed to destroy itself after my Piston was replaced, but you can pretty much rebuild the whole engine of a 2 stroke for half the price of a 4 stroke. People who say two strokes are expensive because of the frequence of rebuilds doesn't look at the fact that int he long run, you will end up paying just as much for your thumper. Hell, my ATC went from 85-2002 on the stock bore/piston!

Blasters are very fun little machines, they are so light they float over just about anything, but in stock form they are not fast.
