If you Slow the video down you can see that about a foot of the nose does hit him including the right ski across his back.

 

That was a poor setup....a few things, wrong height, looks like he was going too fast for the jump as he overjumped it, he gave up in the air, didn't commit, he should have yanked it over, of course since the jump was so poorly planned, would have probably killed him....

man...he fell a long way....
