I wanted to put aluminum wheels on my 99 wolverine for some time. Didnt like the way the ITP used 7 inch wide all the way around. I heard that Honda Rubicon wheels fit, yup, they do. Got a set of new 04 wheels and tires from e-bay. All you have to do is remove the spindle/hub nuts and replace the washer with a smaller one. This allows you to use the stock honda hub caps. If you dont care about yhe hub caps, remove them and leave the washers alone. The tires are 25 inch tall, vs 23 for stock. They look cool, and fit great. Offset on front is about 1/2 inch less, so you get a little added width, but not as much as ITP wheels do. Gearing with 25's seems real good. No problen even for the 260 lb guy.....got my new rims and tires for 250.00. Losts cheaper that other options. PLus the rims are nice...

Why the Honda rims? All I did was put 25" tires on my stock rims. A lot cheaper and easier.

2 good reasons, 1- aluminum is way lighter than steel, so less unsprung weight, rides better, and takes less power to turn, and 2 - stock Wolverine rims with that stupid sticking out rolled lip bend like crazy, my stockers that I replaced a couple of years ago barely look round any more, I lost track of how many times I sat at the side of the trail with a big rock pounding the rim back into shape after a bump on a small rock or a tree, that stock rim just seems to reach out to stuff and tries to bend !!! I put reinforcing rings on some Douglas .190 rims, looks cool, very light, and way more rim protection.

I hated the stock steel rims. So this was the cheapest way to get alum wheels. The tires that come on the honda are not bad. I could get just tires, (mudlites) for 169.00, I got decent tires and rims for 250.00. At least I thought I got a fair shake. I actually posted to let others know that rubicon wheels fit on a wolverine.

Kewl, do they have the same offset as stock, or did you gain/lose any extra width?
What are the stock Honda tires, brand, size?

they are 2004 honda rubicon rims and tires. 8x12x25 front, 10x12x25 rear. The offset on the front is about 1 inch different, it widens the front just a little. Tires are dirt hooks from bridgstone. Rims are stock honds rubicon. They are pretty nice. Try e-bay, seen a set the other day at 200 bucks

Sounds good, I'll have to keep that in mind. I've got my stock 23" tires in the garage with about 3 hours of riding time on them. It'd be nice to have another set of rims to mount those on to run through the Summer or on the roads through the Winter so I'm not chewing up the Mudlites.
Thanks for the info!
