Kodiak bogging in the deep
#1
My 2000 Kodiak seems to bog a little in deep water or mud. I put some di-electric grease on the plug but that didn't help. I don't think water is getting in the intake because it's not quite that deep(about the bottom of the head lights), so could it be somthing else?? If that is the problem has anyone put a snorkel on a new Kodiak yet?

I've had two situations with my 2000 Kodiak where it appears to be running out of fuel after coming out of deep water. Didn't think much about it until I say your message--maybe there is a problem. I had a similiar problem years ago with my Honda XL 250 and after a couple of years of frustration I found that after a water hole, steam (moisture) would enter the air box and pass thru the filter and lay on top of the jet orifice in the venturi, shutting down fuel flow. After a few minutes the engine would restart like nothing ever happened. Guys that switched to Mikunis solved the problem.

As a matter of fact, that has happened to me twice. I hit a puddle to fast. I was trying to get the rider next to me wet and didn't know the puddle was that deep. I hit the water, and it just about stopped me, then my quad almost stalled. It spit and sputtered for a few seconds, and then it was okay. The other time it happened I was going through some pretty deep mud when I started to get stuck. I threw it in four and pinned the throttle. I got some good traction and starting going trough pretty fast. The water was shooting all over the place. When I made it through, it started sputtering on me. It did it for a few seconds and then it was okay. It seems weird to me, because I never had a problem with the belt slipping. I thought the intake for the belt and airbox were at about the same height.
