raptor trannys
when i posted something like this a couple weeks ago when i bought a 2001 raptor people told me mainly:
-make sure all the gears run good
-make sure reverse isnt f'ed up, and try not to use unless need be.
-be easy in second gear.
-they also said there isnt much you can do to tell if its gonna be bad or not.
-however mine hasnt gioven me any problems or shown signs of anything for the future. i also know that there are alot of people around here that havent heard of the problem with theirs. so its kind of a guessing game.
good luck though.

If it feels like it is jumping teeth on the sprockets while under heavy load in 2nd gear.....it's FUBARed! Otherwise it's a guessing game. I missed 2nd gear a lot with the crappy stock shifter. The shift fork was bent, which looked to me why the issue occured on mine. It didn't break anything. The shift fork was bent allowing the two gear to skip. I'm sure it wouldn't have taken long to break them though.
