Stupid Question Monday...Where is the VIN number?

Stupid Question Monday...Where is the VIN number?
I just picked up a 01 Blaster. But Yamaha doesn't put the VIN number in the motor like they used to........30 years ago. It's dirty and the previous owner "got a good deal from his cousin" didn't know anything. Thanks for your help on this one. I need to be sure of the year model and stuff because I need brake pads and similar bits.
