I saw some VOX/PTT mics for sale on Ebay that work with 2 way radios. They were 29.95 each. Thought about getting some for my radios I've already got.

We use the Maxon 49 FX, info @ Maxon 49 info It has worked well for us up to about 1/4 mile. Ours are the older models with a speaker and boom type mic. They still work well in a helmet. I'm guessing the new in-ear mic/speaker would do an even better job and be a lot more comfortable.
We usually use the PTT feature. It's a little hard to regulate the vox when you're revving and my one friend yells at each jump.
We've been using them since around '96 and they're holding up well. Battery life is pretty good with alkaline, I'm sure it'd be less expensive using some of the new higher power rechargable batteries.

My neighbors and I all use Motocomm headsets. They also have a kit with radio or you can use your own two-way radio and pick the appropriate kit to fit that radio.

I'm very pleased with them.

Motocomm

The site lists them at $60/set, but I got mine for $45 from my local Suzuki dealer.

Ive got a set that we use. Radios say they are good upto 7 miles....its more like 2-3, but they have the little talk button and they just go over your ear nicely tucked. Ive got one in my truck, will give you the brand/model # tomorrow Your gonna need some if you want to pre run the SF250 with us
