Don't forget the big military contract from polaris, they got a contract going to make special automatic orvs for the army. I'm sure that's a good chunk of polaris' sales, they had to put up a new factory I'm pretty sure to meet their demands. I would think the military would want manual transmissions so they could haul a$$ when they need to.

Just an update...
There havce been 12 posts so far, and 7 different lists of the top selling manufacturers...there seems to be some debate as to which manufacturer sells more quads. So far most people believe that Honda or Yamaha sell the most quads but Polaris has been up and down on people's lists. It could be a regional thing, as in NY/NJ/PA we see a lot of Yamaha's and Polaris.

Anyone got any real numbers?

Ive tried for awhile to find the facts, and all I can find is the information isnt readily available, for free. Anyone interested in digging deeper, could start here.
atv figures

This is a little old,
"American Honda's ATV sales continued to rise in 2001 ending the year at 238,557, a 13% increase over last year. This strong performance strengthened Honda's number one market share position to 32.7%"

If anyone can find more specific, or better info, Id be interested in seeing it.

Thanks for the info hondabuster. I thought Honda led, but I bet Polaris is slightly ahead of Yamaha for second place.

Polaris. They not only have a contract with the military vehicles but they also make diesel for the mines around here.
