Hot Grips
#1
I've got a 2000 Kodiak and would like to outfit it with a pair of hot grips for the upcoming colder months here in Mass. Does anyone have experience with installing hot grips on a Yamaha ATV and could pass along details such as brand, where available, cost, installation tips, etc? I also have a 1999 Yamaha 600SX snowmobile and especially like those variable heat hot grips.

Hot Grips
I have a 01 wolverine and installed hot grips recently. Check under the handlebar protector and you should find some spare wires that can be used for adding accessories such as hot grips or power for GPS. I am assuming Yamaha does this on all their models. Then from there just check it with a test light to make sure the wires are only hot when the key is in the 'on' position. With a test light, you should be able to follow the instruction that came with the hot grips. I have also heard of people tying into their wiring through the winch, tho I have no experience with that installation. One thing I do suggest is to make sure you solder all your connections, then seal them with liquid electrical tape... yes I said liquid. Can buy it at your local hardware store. This stuff is nice because you just paste it on and it doesn't get as brittle as electrical tape does over time, as well as it seals out moisture to prevent corrosion on these connections.
Hope this helps!
