I had a chance to ride a 4x4 timberwolf back in the early 90's Not sure the exact year, but I think it was around a 93 model. Either way, it should be the same bike as the 91. 1991 was probably the first year for the timberwolf. The bike I rode was a 4x4 model. The only complaint I had was that it was under powered for a 4x4. It would barely spin the tires. Now I've heard good things about the 2wd model. The engine is probably the same power plant they use in the beartracker and the new bruin 250.

If the price is right and the bike is in good shape, go for it. Even if it's a 4x4 it should be ok. Just don't expect to win any races and don't try putting oversized tires on it.

What new bike did you order?

I got one in 96 brand new my first new atv I was 14 at the time and I loved it had plenty of power to slide around and it allways felt stable and never gave me any problems and i rode the heck out of it poor thing got sunk in a creek 3-4 times one time past the handle bars drug it out drained the air box dried the filter took out the spark plug out flipped her back on 2 wheels turned it over to get the watter out of the cylinder threw the plug back in and never had a problem with it. And I would still have it if it hadent got stolen a few years back, anyways it made me a yamaha fan and I would love to have another timberwolf to beat around on muddy days you cant go wrong with it your son will love it so if it was me I would go get er. ...and good rideing to you and your son~~JEREMY

as long as it hasnt been rode hard, which if its owned by an older gent it probably hasnt, i would say get it!

I think my dad and i had some of the best times when we were riding, if he hadnt of bought me one we wouldnt have alot of special memories. Plus i think by him buying me a quad it really helped me become more responsible. I know that when i have children i want them to be able to ride also and share some of the same experiences that i did growing up, and i would like them to look at me as i remember looking at my dad. I didnt really notice it then, but when i matured i did notice it, and was very appreciative of what he did for me and my siblings. quad riding is a great father son bonding experience.

From the son's point of view i think it is a great starter quad and you should get it. Low maintanance also. Yamaha makes great reliable quads, look at my pics, i have an 89 warrior that my dad owned before me and has about 120,000 hours on it. stock motor, never majorly broken. yamaha wheelers will definately stand the test of time.

enough rambling for me, just get the quad!!!!! and have fun.......
