Will a bad CDI cause a machine to have bad starting problems ? If a CDI is bad will it cause the quad to run bad after it is started ?

I have pretty much done everything with the fuel and air ( replaced K&N , replaced fuel, cleaned all jets, choke, cleaned filters in the tank, new plug, and new battary) and the thing will only start by push starting it. Once its running it will run perfectly fine with no type of noticable power loss. It will start fine once its warmed up, but cold starting.........forget it. So far this week I have tryed to start it everyday after work, yesterday was the only day it started with out me having to push start it. Today it just turned over tryed to start about 10 times then the battary started gettin low and that is pretty much what it has done all week.

 

When mine died it did just that. All at once with no warning. I'm not sure on 4 strokes but on my 2 stroke carbs the slow idle jets were a problem with my Banshee's starting and poor acceleration. If you havnt checked to see if the slow idle jets are clean and clear it may be that simple. Hopefully for your wallet.

Atre you running Fat or lean? Maybe need to rejet.

Great question FsT4WrD. I'm curious as to what it actually does. Maybe control spark timing and or output.

I read that you cleaned all the jets. My bad.

 

The CDI raises the rev-limiter, and advances the Timing.
