Default Is it really worth the money?

I have been reading several posts and people are talking about mods to thier ATV. I recently purchased a 2003 Beartracker knowing that the power of the big motor was not there, but I am not in it for speed alone. For those that have made the following mods was it worth the money to replace the air filter with a high flow such as a K&N , re-jetting- what options are there? Quad works has been mentioned alot , will there be a noticable power increase with the re-jetting. I see that I can purchase the stage one kit from quad works for around $130.00 Should I spend the money on this kit or drive down the highway and pitch it out the window?

MBBCopATV, Welcome to the forums! About your quad, I would go for it and get a new filter. Keep in mind that you are going to be modding a small displacement, lower tech motor. You will not see a big gain in power from just a filter. IMO I would probably stay away from the K&N and get a quality foam filter like a TwinAir or UNI. These tend to be a little more protecting of your motor, though it won't flow as much air. You will probably have to put some holes in or even remove the airbox lid to get full potential out of this mod. I also would wait and put an exhaust system on at the same time. Flowing more air into the engine only helps if you can flow more out also. Buying a system with a larger ID header will be key here. I don't know what all the Quadworks kit includes. $130 seems a little stiff for just a filter and jet kit. If you only go for the filter now, I would just buy a size bigger main jet seperate(they are just a few $$) , you may not even have to go up on the pilot or needle. ENjoy your Yammie!

I would say get the jet kit and air filter you will see a little increase but not a whole lot but its a start but!!!as scooter86 said i would do it all at once get you a bigger head pipe and a slip on with the jet kit and air filter that will give you a good little gain on bottom end and a lil on midrage.Just getting rid of that tiny head pipe will do it some justice. good luck on your mods and good rideing to you.........and welcome to the forms.........
