Boken Rod on raptor, Which to use for replacement?
#1
recently tore the motor down, and the rod is broken, the back part that goes around the crank(as if you were above the motor) chunk busted out and the bearings were in the bottom of the case. Luckily and unbelievably did not damage anything else at all, the piston and cylinder are untouched. Anyway, I need to replace it and who is good to install the rod for me. I have access to a press, but never pressed a crank apart.

Falicon does good crankwork. Bob Craycraft at www.14mins.com sells aftermarket rods and can get Falicon to balence your crank, and press on your new rod.

Barker - Dont know a thing about it, but its about 180 bucks
Carillo - Used to be the forum favorite, looks like the CCR boys have jumped ship again.
Wiseco - I think this may be a new item for them, not sure.
and Falicon was already mentioned. There are some smaller shops that can do this too I believe.

Since you are a drag racer, you might consider a Titanium rod. They are only a few hundred more than a ChromeMoly but weigh much less. Craycraft Racing sells and installs them or a good CrMo replacement. Carillo is not recommended due to sloppy tolerances. Whatever rod you choose, have it all balanced so your motor will live long at high rpm.

I have 2 Turbo Nitros powered Raptors and when they were built the autorities on power decided on the Carillo Rod. That is the one KMS Performance (turbo builder) prefers. So far it is holding up to 115 hp and 95 ft. lbs of torgue.
