Default wolverine tires

I just put 25x8x12 and 25x10x12 ITP mudlites on my wife's wolverine on friday. We will be taking out today to check them out. There are pics in my gallery. Dave

Would i be able to spin my front tires strongly after I order my front differential locker with 25-8-12s on the front?

With a locker, you will NOT be able to spin the tires as well. Why? Because that is the purpose of having the front end locked. Perhaps I am not understanding what the question you are asking is.

By having an 8" tire up front, you make it very easy to control the quad. With wider tires, you are forced to "raise" the tire up so it can ride on the outside portion of the tread.

lol sorry about my question I am also confused about it! Would I be able to spin bigger tires with a front locker?

When you say "spin the front tars" are you talking about breaking traction? If so... you will have a very hard time doing so. With the front end locked i would assume you would have little or no tire spin. Instead your wolverine would grab traction (that is why you purchased the locker) and go.

I also noticed that you have a FST 446 kit. While this gives you more power, the force of friction with the deep lugged 25" tires is hard to over come. You also increase the risk of breaking a front driveline component. I am not sure how strong the outter U-joints on the wolvys are, but I would assume with a locker and big bore, they would be the first to go.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

I dont have a big bore.... I wrote comming soon Im definatley getting a big bore but not sure which 1 yet

I am curious; we ride at 11,000 feet in Utah and usually have to rejet. Just got a Wolverine and from your thread it appears that you did not rejet to ride at 12,000 feet! Is this correct? Would really be interested in knowing the answer to this because we ride at or around sea level in Oregon. Thanks

I am from KS, riding at 1,500 feet. I do rejet for Colorado. I jet for 9,500 feet. This gives me plenty of climbing power where the steepest parts of trails normally are. However, when at base camp (7,000 ft) it runs a little lean, the choke out in 2nd position keeps it running smooth (push it in after a little climb). If you look at the pic I posted passing the 400ex, I am blowing out rich smoke. What do you expect for lugging up around 13,000 feet. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Thanks for your jetting reply. What sized jet did you go to for the 9,500 ft? I called Yamaha dealership near where we ride and they said to go to a 132.5 for where I was riding - 6000' to 10,000'. What do you think. After we ride there we will be going to Moab where it is 2,500'. Would I need to rejet when I go there? Were you able to rejet without removing the front plastic? Can you just loosen the two ring clamps and twist the carb. enough to take the bowl off? Appreciate any info. I am about ready to tackle this job as we leave in two weeks. Thanks.

For ridng in the San Juan Mountains (8,000ft-13,500ft) I ran a 135 main, needle 1 clip from the top, and mixture screw in 1 turn. I get a slight stumble when cold, but it smooths out. Do not expect to much power, as the wolverines 350 starts to struggle in 2nd gear and up. I had a 132 in it before and all she would do is pop and spit. To remove the carb: Unclamp the ring clamps. Disconnect the throttle barrel behind the small plastic cover on the carb. It will all come out easy. As for Moab, I would rejet. Stick it back to stock. No reason to blow it. Have fun!
