Default running her in

hi,

ok i am damn excited becuase in a few hours my new yfz 450 will be ready for collection. i need a bit of advice about running her in.there is the ride slowly through the gears for 20hours/ 2 tanks petrol or there is break in secrets by motoman, which basically means i warm up motor, gun it hard 2/3/4 gear while shutting off hard in between , i do this for approximatley 20 miles? any suggestions?

after its broken in, hopefully after this weekend - she needs to go back to have a jetting kit fitted and dyno'ed.

these are going to be the longest few hours of my life, lol

Just ride it how you will normally ride it. I broke in my raptor twice(when I got it and when I put in the wiseco piston) and both of the times I just warmed it up, took it for a nice ride...shifting from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 at a good strong pace and later going wide open for a good while. Then just down shifting without the clutch. After that I just let it cool where I could touch the head pipe and start all over, its worked great every time. Good luck and enjoy!
