Questions about Grizzley and Bruin
#1
Hi I bought a Grizzley and a Bruin 4x4, and one dealer told me that I need to have my valves checked at 20 hours, and the other dealer told me that I don't have to. Thanks for any info that you can give me.

i dont know about the bruin, but the grizzly's valves tighten up real quick till there broke in. so, i would check them if i were you. i would learn how to adjust them myself, becouse the griz needs them done about every 30 hours until you hit 1000 miles or so. there not hard to do, ya just need a manual and some paintance.

valve and carbeurator adjustment are mandatory and required after the first 20 hours of use. once the engine is broken in, the oil most definately needs changed. The valves need to be deadon to allow the most power and efficiency to keep reliability in sight. if the valves are opening early you will backfire when you let go of the gas and you will have some trouble starting. We have a yamaha badger 80 where the valves are so off that the engine will not even start until it is warmed up. If they are late, you will hold pressure and take away power and acceleration. sometimes the tuning and maintanence is a waiste but on my raptor, it made it a little better.

My cousin did the same thing and always wondered why my Grizz would kill his machine that at the time had the same mods as me. He never had the valves adjusted until I talked him inot to doing it and it ran toe to toe with me. Hence the 686 and cam upgrade I went with.
