Default New gearing for a raptor?

I need some of everyones expertise here. My raptor seems to have tonnes of power when riding around but when I am climbing hills at the dunes it seems to have to much. Let me explain; when i am down shifting everything works fine except for an the really huge hills like choke cherry at St. Anthony, when i need to go to my last resort and shift to first gear the thing just diggs a huge whole and you get stuk in the middle of the hill. What can i do to either me front sprocket or rear sprocket to resolve this problem. How much will it affect the other aspects of performance?

I took another raptor that had similar mods to mine except his pipe was a big gun up the hill at it was so wierd. He seemed to have crappy acceleration, and not much power and no power band whatsoever but i could crall that thing up anything when i shifted into first.

I appreciate anyone hlp with this, thankyou.

Well digging holes is a result of the rider, not the machine. Its hard to do, but it is possible to downshift and still maintain forward motion. But if you didnt have to downshift it wouldnt be a problem. What is the current gearing on you bike? If you have bearclaws on the back of it then you probably arent getting much traction in the sand anyway. If you are running paddles what size are they and how many paddles do they have? You more than likely could gear down which would allow you to hold your gear longer before having to downshift, if you have to at all.

I've been climbing hills for a while and have never faced this problem not to mention about 10 other people tried with the same bike and faced the same problem, but I i did like I said walk up it with other raptors. Your starts powering down in second gear and then you drop it to first and it will go for a while then dig in (unless you turn around and go back down ). I would love to keep it in second gear, if I dropped my sprocket down one tooth in the front do you think that would do the trick or would it be better to go up one in the back. I'm pretty sure it's stock sprockets right now unless the previous owner changed them and never mentioned it. I will check when I get home today.

Oh ya, I am using Gecko tires and I think they are 22's

Geckos are pretty far down on the paddle tire hierarchy so thats part of your problem. But the biggest problem is running 22" sand tires with stock gearing on a piped bike. I would drop to a 12 tooth front or a 44 tooth rear.
