Default rich or lean?

running Lean is terrible for your engine. running rich hurts nothing other than fouling plugs.

Default rich or lean?

Lean= Holes in and melted pistons.
Rich= Fouled plugs, carbon build up and thinned out oil.

Lean makes your engine run hotter which will end up with mucho engine damage... Rich is alot better, all it does is foul plugs and maybe some carbon build up. If you're planning to jet, start high then work your way down.

the reason im asking is ive got a mild port job, stage 1 hot cam & 11:1 piston.
i did a search and have read conflicting reports on needing to re-jet or not
i have already jetted up for exhaust and air box

to be totally sure, do a plug check. find a stretch where u can rev a couple gears out, shut the motor off while runnin hard and coast it back. take the plug out and if its tan its good, if its black and wet its rich, and if its dry and white then its lean. there was a post up that had really good pics of different plugs and their running conditions.

Running to rich is not good either. It thins the oil which in turn starts to burn up the rings. Then you will end up with oil burning ride. But lean is a definate NO, NO. No matter what mods you do always check your jetting.
