Default Should I buy 660 Raptor

I'm looking at a YFM660 Raptor at a local dealership. It's a 2002 with full skid plates in perfect condition. They want $3995. Is it a good price? I'm looking to run the quad on a track (not for competetive racing, just fun) and in trails, will the Raptor out accelerate my 400ex? I know it's alot faster but where I ride, it's tough to get out of third or fourth gear. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully I'll be on the Yamaha side soon.

Raptor>400ex BIG TIME! The raptor whoop the ex drag racing. I would offer 3,500 for the raptor, its 3 yrs old and they probably just want to get rid of it.

I bought a 01 Raptor in 02 it had a few mods on it, GYTR graphics, skids, works shocks, fat Pro Tapers.
I put GYTR exhaust, and DG nerfs on it. I love this bike. No serious problems so far. Runs hard, wastes my buddies 400EX. Great for on the track and trails.

if you do a lot of track riding you might want to widen the rear to make more stable around corners. other than that it is a good quad and i would get it.

Raptors are nice but thats a little much for an 02.

I think you would be really happy with it.

You can get used quads down far from the asking, they just want to get rid of it. Be firm, I would shoot for 3500 and no more like caliraptor said.

Would spacers do the trick or would I have to buy a longer axle? How tippy are they. I've heard that they need alot of rider response but that seems like the fun of it. I will be doing alot of track riding as I just joined a local track, all for fun of course. Just don't have the time to get serious about racing. Thanks again for the help.

I got an 04' and it was a little tippy with the stock axel. Depends on how ya ride it too, if you put around, no prob, if you drive like a wild man, problem. I put on a dominator II by RPM on it and now it is TON more stable in the rear. That however is not a cheap way of doin' it AND i might not be able to fit in tight trail scenarios as well as some others but its a nice axel and strong. I shouldn't see any problem with some spacers, That way, use them on the track and take em off for the trail. Durablue makes some nice ones and I accually have a pair of brand new ones from Ronnie's that I don't need and would be willing to sell. They are the Ronnie's brand, 1" and are made of billet aluminum. If you get the bike and are interested, email me. stretch442@aol.com
