Default Which air filter is best?

Hello,

I recently got my used 2001 Raptor 660R (I love it!). I noticed that the filter was really filthy and their was some oil residue on it and on the bottom of the seat base under the filter.

I'm still new with ATV's and bikes but was wondering if I should clean it or just get a new one. If I need a new one which one should I get?

thanks in advance!

Do they make an outerwear for the uni pro flow system? If they do where, could I find it?

You really don't need am outerwear for a UNI filter, just for the K&N's. Id choose a UNI!!

I called my local bike shop and they don't carry UNI filters but they said they carry "Twin-air" the guy said that it's the same as UNI and maybe even better. Do you guys agree???

What's the purpose of an "outerwear" anyway? Is this like a pre-filter? Is it really necessary??

i would go with uni and the outer wear is only a "added" protection form like dirt and sand.

So are "twin-air" filters any good? I checked out their website and they look like they have some really good products...

Twin air, UNI, or K&N are all good as long as you maintain them. People constantly try to determine which is better but I have never seen any concrete proof regarding which is better. Reports can be pulled up for each manufacturer stating theirs is better than the other guys.

I can tell you what is no good and that is any dirty filter no matter what the type or manufacturer is. What ever you get maintain it and it will serve you well.
