my friend has a 1996 blaster he wants to sell for 300 bucks... the motor kicks over fine and feels like it has compression (might need a top end)

problems:

rear breaks are locked- happend to friend (other) and we greased, and it was all good
tires are ok
frount breaks are ok
needs a clutch cable its super stiff...
needs a chain
bumper is bad

i couldnt seem to get it in gear, but it was in neutral, and the rear end was locked (i could tell N because it kicked over) i know if blasters arent running they are difficult to get in gear, and sometimes need to be "rocked" when they are parked,

- the bike has been sitting for like 1 1/2 covered outside.... not rusted really at all, everything is pretty decent for 300 bucks is it worth it?

my buddie wants a bike, and said he would give me like 1000-1200 for it, or he would just buy and and put the parts in it, I would be doing ALL the work either way.

it has OIL in the rear tank so it wasnt run dry, the motor looks like it hasnt been into, so its 9/10 on the std bore, because they said they havent touched it, and for what 9 years old it prolly just needs a top end, thats a long time to go [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

should i get this thing? or stay away i am gonna take the caliper off to get the rear moving, and see if it will go in gear, if not then something is prolly odd in the gear box, i dont mind doing a bottom end, but im thinking for 300 bucks even if the tranny is a little messed up its still worth it, i would get my money back and then some, or if my friend bought it, the total couldnt be more then 700, with parts, and the bike itself....

I'd say for 300 bucks you can't go wrong. Even if it turns out to have some stuff bad, you could part it out and get way more then 300.

true, i might just get in anyways...... redo it, and make her mint. i will get some pictures tomorrow, if i get it.

the only downside is it is Purple, with blue rims, and yellow shocks...... plastics getting tossed, lol, and the rims are getting sanded and PC on them, frame im gonna do a nice color, and some other things, i really cant belive how nice my friends 01 blaster is that we worked on, and i did the motor. i sware you can tell its a blaster, by the way it handles, and ride....

thankfully the warrior isnt mine, the 400, vinny, and Rm are mine, rubi is my fathers, and the explorer is also my friends.....

on average i have anywares between 1-4 bikes at my house that arent mine now....

hey guys, well i bought it.....

250$, boy am i a happy camper!!!!!!!!!!!

rear caliper was frozen, took it off fixed it, ok done

now for the motor.....

wouldnt start...

i put a new plug in it, new gas, cleaned the carb FIRED FIRST KICK!!!!!!!!!!!!! took it for a ride, the clutch is great(just needs a cable its a bit rough) tires are all good, plastic is good, the tranny shifts mint...

250$ i got a complete running blaster, i cant belive how well it runs, but boy does it NEED a pipe bad, they are kinda doggy stock, compared to my friends!

i will get some pics tomorrow.

Yea that thing is in need of a pipe, also some normal colored fenders besides purple...LOL. But not bad for Fisrt Kick huh? That was amazing.
