I was jumping at the dunes and my right foot slipped off the peg on my cousins rap, no nerfs. About 125 stitches later I decided I wasnt going to go crazy on anyone else's bike if they didnt have nerfs.

IMO they are the first thing you put on a quad. I've been saved by them more times than I can count, and they are a necessity for ice racing. I'm a big fan of the protection in the woods and jumps as well.

same thing here......

I was coming around a corner one time and my front tires got out of the ruts and rears went into the ruts and it spun me sideways and then onto the side...(bicycle maneuver)...and naturally my left foot went down to keep it from rolling and it caught and kicked my leg and it got caught between the tire and fender.

Well i had a 2" wide X 13" long rubber burn on my shin for the majority of the summer, and to this day still have a scar from it.

I bought nerfs and riding boots so this doesnt happen again.

"GeneticJackhammer".....this wasnt a stupid question, he was asking because he wanted to get something that was proven to be a good product on his model of bike.

and it really doesnt matter what kind of riding you do...they dont make "dune style" nerf bars, or "mud racing" style nerf bars.....they are generally all the same used for the same purpose.......to catch your feet and prevent what happened to maddog56 and what happened to me...and im sure what has happened to many other riders out there.

Most online retailers will stock nerfs for the warrior but the mini will be a tougher find.

actually.. there was an 04 raptor 350 and warrior. The raptor came out mid 2004, and they stopped making warriors at that time. So the rappy is like a half 2004.. lol

Like I said, early release model, but I'm pretty sure its still a 2005.

Ok buddy, does your title say 2004 or 2005? Of course they made them in 04, but I was under the impression that they were all 2005 MY quads.

Edit: I've been searching all over and there doesnt seem to be a consensus. If you notice on the Yamaha-Motor website all other sport quads have a 2004 tab you can click on for last years models. The raptor 350 doesnt have one. But when you go to accessories you can select 2004 or 2005. ATV Connection magazine did a test on one and said it was brand new as an 05. I've seen reviews on other sites calling it an 04.

I'm going to look for my dirtwheels or atv sport and see if I can find anything out there.

Edit again: According to the April 2004 issue of atv sport, the Raptor 350 was designated as a 2004 even though it wasnt availible until summer 2004, when the 2005 machines come out. In the August 2003 issue of DW the Raptor 350 was not even hinted at in the 2004 Yamaha Lineup.

So in conclusion, I was wrong. And I apologize. Basically what Yamaha did was release the Raptor 350 a month before the 2005 machines came out and called it an 04, pretty much screwing anyone who purchased one of the first 2004 raptor 350s becuase the moment they got it the bike was already last year's model. All sensibility says it should have been tacked a 2005 along with the Grizzly 125. The 2004 LE YFZ came out in 2004 as well, but some time before the Raptor 350.

Mine is a 2004 and thanks to the 2004 1/2 I got mine for 1000 cheaper then "2005".. I can live with the different sickers than my buddy has on his 2005.

thanks for all the input
