A blaster would zip up those gears faster, and you can put simple stuff on a blaster to get it to beat a warrior easily. A blaster with a trenga 280 kit i heard keeps up with yfz and banshees. A blaster is better because it can be modded to beat alot of stuff.

takes $$$$ and a lot more than his budget to get a blaster good. I am saying that on his budget he should get a warrior.. cuz a blaster hell b disappointed wit it because hell outgrow it b4 he gets serious into ATV racing. Plus it has no reverse.. and that is KEY in trail conditions. 4 stroke engines last WAY longer than 2 strokes also.

I bought a blaster when I first got back into quads. Lots of power (for the displacement and budget). If you can ride it to the max, you can ride 'bout any quad. I loved my Blaster for scooting around the dunes and trails too. Never minded the kick-start, and it is so light, I never needed reverse, even a gal like me could yank it around if need be.

I sold it and bought a 250 ex for my son because he didn't like the constant shifting and I think the power hit unnerved him a bit (he's younger than you are) He is now older and wants another blaster because it is faster, wheelies better, and does better in the dunes.

We rode the snot out of the blaster and the only thing we had to do was replace the crank seal. I learned how to rejet it myself and a great deal on the pipe on e-bay. Took the air box lid off, and covered it with a pair of old panty hose and that was a little speedy quad.

The 250 ex is not nearly as fast, but it is easy to ride - my son's friends can get on it and ride - no problem. I like Honda reliability too.

So, I guess it all boils down to how comfy you are with shifting and working a clutch, and what kind of riding you do. The honda is definitely better on the trails in the woods.

Having owned both, I would say that they are both good quads.

You might consider the Polaris Phoenix too, although I haven't heard much about it.

What kind of riding does your dad do? Will you be riding with him? Also, if he knows Hondas, he will be able to help you work on your quad.

Two strokes do last as long as 4-strokes if properly maintained. Proper break in for a new engine, proper oil mixture..etc My sled has 10000miles on it, and the only thing that has been done to that motor (knock on wood) is one set of rings...no new piston..no bore...just a hone and rings (and gaskets duh) this was done 4000miles ago..just did a compression check last weekend...120lbs across both cylinders...dead even. Now my clutch on the other hand..thats a different story.

Oh and to add to my previous post...my ol XT had 10000km on it...and the engine had to be into twice...First time a complete crank up rebuild (done by previous owner) and the second time, I had to do a ring job and valve seals. Put more motor work into my 4-stroke..than i have had to do to my 2-stroke
