Default kodiak tech question

Hello I have written in with this problem already and recieved good advice but only have my problem half fixed. I was changing oil in my 2002 kodiak and somehow tightened drain plug too tight and cracked the block. I got it welded but now the mating surfaces of the plug and block still must be off because it still leaks a little bit . how can i fix this. Can i use a rubber seal or is there a better answer. I have bought some gaskets from a auto store but havent tried them yet. people suggest filing down so it is even but how could i be so precise someone please help>>
