from what ive gathered, they are screws that go into the carb's. One that controls the air flow, one for the fuel flow. Then one that controls both. With jets you can tune your machine alot better when it comes to tempurature altitude and air pressure. goto www.howstuffworks.com and search for carburator.

well when ya do things like aftermarket pipe and take off the lid its good to jet it, there is more air and fuel wanting to come in and u can tune it so your gettin more gas and air into the carb

ok, a engine is air air pump. Air comes in (intake) Combusts ( piston, cam ect) and leaves (exhaust). your carb Mixes the air and fuel together (air/fuel ratio) for the specific engine. when ever you modify the engine ( new exhaust, Open air box, ect) your engine is flowing alot more air in and out, so it also needs more gas, Thier are 3 differnt speeds in which the gas flows through the carb, idle-1/4 throttle is Piolit Jet, 1/4 throttle - 3/4 throttle is Needle and Clip, Full throttle is Main jet, and the jets overlap some too. If you dont jet when you modify the exhaust/intake, your engine will lose alot of power, if run at all, and will become internaly damage from running at such high temps. from being LEAN ( too much air too litttle Gas) i reccomend if you dont know alot about carbs that you let a Pro jet it for you for a couple bucks
