Hey, I saw a similar thread in the forums for a different quad.

I was wondering if there is a better filter out there than what most Yamaha dealers will sell you. Also if there is an oil filter of the same quality but for a less money that would be huge for me as well. If anybody can provide the what, where and how much I'd really appreciate it.

Yes, Fram Filters make one, but they stick out a 1/2inch more than stock.I would have to get the part number tomorrow if you need

 

alrighty, no big deal, I've got a couple left anyway, but just wanted to know before I bought the next several filters...

 

i use bosh 3300 filter. got it at autozone,its black and same size as a stock one. also i use the new valvoline 4-stoke motercycle oil. alot cheaper than yamaha products.

I use the bosch 3300 on my kodiak, but the wal mart filter (WalMart SuperTech ST7317)is both rated higher and is the least expensive. Both are made by champion.

I'll have to look into that Purelator Pure One filter looks like. Hopefully they are fairly common to buy and less expensive than what Yamaha dealers offer for oil filters.
