I know this is a Yamaha forum but check this out. Polaris came out w/ a new sp 400 that is supposed to beat everything in it's class. Well for starters it's almost 500cc's, really just the old sp (non HO) with NO engine brake. Polaris has to disguise a 500 4-stroke as a 400 just to keep up with the Kodiaks and Foreman's etc. This info came straight from a Polaris manager. Not slamming Polaris cause they make a decent quad. I just don't see how they can classify it as a 400 when it has 490 something cc's. I know it won't outrun a Kodiak like they claim on their dealer videos cause I've outrun too many sp 500's.

It should be interesting. If it does have 425cc thats bigger than the Kodiak at 401cc. The SP400 will most likely weight 75 or more pounds more than the Kodiak. The extra cc's might be offset by the additional weight! I guess we will have to wait & see. There is no way the SP400 will handle as well as the Kodiak!

Apparently it is 425cc. The mgr. of Polaris, who is a friend of mine told me 490+cc, shows how much they know. Anyway, they get these promo videos showing how it beats the competition. It will be interesting to see if it will perform as claimed. It wouldn't be hard to do a video making one bike LOOK superior or faster then another. Please excuse the misinformation.
