i have a 00 wolverine.. the only complaint i d have is that its missing a way to shift out of 4wd into 2wd.. other then that.... its pretty fast for full time 4x4...

im a big guy and it hauls me around like nothing... I m gona be getting the biggest tires available for it,,, 25" .. with 2 more inches it shouldnt hit the rocks as easly..
Dennis Kirk has a good selection of parts for em..
i m sure once i get money for new exhaust it ll run faster!

I really don't understand the reason why people don't like the full time four wheel drive. I really like my wolverine. It will go anywhere that I want to go, and alot of places that other quads won't. I can see why Polaris guys want to be able to turn the 4x4 on and off, but just about all full time 4x4's steer easier than the sportsman's in 2 wheel drive (please no offence!) I geuss I really don't see the need for trying to broad slide an 600-700lbs quad around. The only thing I would change about the wolv. is the power of it. It really needs some more, other than that, I really like it.
P.S. I've taken a poll as to why eveyone wants to be able to turn on and off the 4x4 and have never gotten a good answer, so if anybody wants to give me a good answer I'm willing to listen.

I myself love my 2000 Wolv. This thing hauls some butt and can keep up to the big boys due to the ability to manually shift!. It's wicked!.

The handling in the tight turns is amazing and it just keeps walking up those steep hills. I weigh about 220 and I can whip the back around pretty easily. I think the reason why people wan the 2wd/4wd switch is so they can spin the back end around and do some tight doughnuts.

As for me, I have performed some doughnuts with the Wolv. and defeated some serious hills and the Wolv. was there in the end.

I love my Wolverine and she loves me!!!.

Check out the Wolv. pics from hills to doughnuts.

i love my wolverine more than any of my other wheelers.it's a fast and light 4x4.it can get the job done on any terrain.the only thing bad is you cant put any large tires on it.when i first put on my 24inch vamps they had a some trouble pulling them but since then i have added many modes and moved up too a bigger size tire.it is a really great machine and i wouldnt trade it for any thing

A Scrambler is just plain faster in 2WD than 4WD, a fact I've proven many times in drag races. Kicking it sideways around turns is also a blast, plus the fact that if the 4WD is not on all the time the parts will last a lot longer.

Kevin Question?
How can your Scrambler run quicker in 2 wd vs 4 wd? Mine launches much harder in 4 wd. In 2 wd I get a lot of wheel spin. Also when a Scrambler is in 2 wd the only parts not engaged are the front hubs. Power is still driven to all the drive shafts for the front drive.

I like the 2 to 4 wd switch because it allows me to have a little more sportyness to do wheelies and power slides. Thats my reason I went with the Scrambler and not the Wolverine. I run 2 wd 90% of the time.

The only bad things with Wolverines that I know of arewhen you install larger tires they greatly increase the stress on front end parts, bearings and ball joints specificly. I rode all the time with a friend on a Wolverine with 25`s and he would replace front wheel bearings every year. Another person I rode with had 26`s on his and he broke a ball joint. These machines were riden hard but not moto-xed or big jumps. Neither bad mouthed the Wolverine they excepted it as their price to pay for the larger tires. Overall they are a very good and trouble free machine.
My opinions and experiences. HTH Good Luck

I would attribute the difference to the sudden hit that the front wheels get. I think this transfer of power causes a loss of wheelspeed at the rear. I have found that a low RPM launch in 2WD is faster than trying a hard launch in 4WD. I have seen the difference in dozens of drag races. A 4wd launch is only better in loose gravel or mud in my opinion. I also remember a Scrambler hop-up in Dirt Wheels or ATV Sport that showed drag times on their modified Scrambler to be about 3/10's of a second quicker in 2WD than 4WD.
