My buddy just blew his engine too. We were topped in fifth and his seized up. We just found a faulty part though. What happened was the push rod broke, and on the break we found an air bubble in the rod. So hopefully yamaha's gonna cover the bill, or at least part of it! There quoting him $3200 just for the new engine, and he's a dealer employee, so that's at cost! I'd recomend your brother part out his bike and pick up another used one!

Yamaha ?.......Push rod ?.......What kind of Yamaha ?

I believe he's talking about the crank rod which pushes and pulls the piston .. so in essence really is a kind of push rod .. not the same "trade name" as in the push rod valve actuations on most of the older V8's and such ..

Yes, that is what I meant, thankyou. I actually just meant to write rod, 'couse I don't know the actual name for it, but push rod just ended up on the screen in front of me! It was late, cut me some slack! Anyway, the air bubble in the rod was right at the break, so hopefully yamahoo will be pickin up some of the bill (or maybe all of it?!!).

I know a guy whos blew the ballance shaft out the side of the case while breaking a rod. Caused all kind of havoc. Yamaha covered it all.
Note, it wasnt a design flaw, it was held at redline for far to long.

Ok .........Thanks for the clarification.
Really had me wondering there.
I think the proper name for that is "connecting rod"
or just plain "rod".
When you said push rod I was trying to think of an
overhead valve engine that Yamaha built.
