So none of your YFZ guys have anything to say about them saying they can beat almost any YFZ short of a big bore with just a pipe and filter added to the raptor? Or are you guys just not reading this thread. You guys have watched the sicily island videos right? Sure those had a bit more than the usual YFZ mods but still......

so basset you retract your statement that 40% is not feasible, gee what a thought. the math is not that hard to do, come on Mr. "i build race motors..bla bla" and you couldnt figure that out! Wow, freez is spot on with his statement, and i stand behing his post 100%. you still have a weight advantage on me, and he is some more math...ready...write this down. 8-10lbs difference between twop bikes/riders is worth 1hp.
so you've got your yoshi putting out 47ish, im 53. i'll put my girl on my bike and the contest will be over. i know i weigh alot, not a problem my girl will take care of you. the heck with aledo, why bother, craycraft is just going to get stomped on by every other builder.

i eat raptors for breakfast... i went out this weekend ran through them on draging... i got my idle dialed in now and curious to see if that will improve more... once i can get someone to vid tape it ill show you all yfz450 is hard to beat... especially with the work i put into mine... not as much as could be done but it's a start...

hey FREEZ its funny you hated on yoshi pipes like that because i talked to multiple dealers and people local and out of state even and they said the yoshi is one of the best... for them... same with sparks but i doubt they were the worst... unless they jetted wrong etc.... but if i saw you on the drag strip only thing you woudl see is my taillight and some dirt in your face, " i eat raptors for breakfast" ;-)

I don't hate Yoshi. I personally think its one of the nicest looking and best built pipes. However saying that, I did a massive shootout and spent days testing all sorts of bolt on parts on the raptor. All the pipes where 1st tested on one raptor and then tested again on another one. Jetting specs where the same for all the full pipes and I checked that the A/F ratio was the same for all of them. I did the shootout to compare things fairly, not to prove I hated Yoshi. When I started, I was expecting Yoshi to be one of the best, since so many people like them. My dyno proved otherwise. I actually gained a big respect for Pro-Circuit, which I did not have before I started.

The dyno showed Yoshi made the least amount of power. Pro-Circuit was the best pipe for low down power and made more power below 5000 RPM than the rest. CT and sparks made the best top end power. I have the dyno runs if you like to see Yoshi against the rest. Like I said, I tested this on two different raptors and the Yoshi pipe just did not cut it. The reason I believe it is not doing so well is because it uses a smaller header pipe compared to the other 3 pipes. It's diameter is similar to the stock header and that is where I believe it is loosing some power. If they used a fatter header pipe, the tables might have been turned. Again, I don't hate the pipe, the dyno indicates it's not as good as the others.

Now, Yoshi might work better on a YFZ450, but for a raptor it is a very average performance pipe.

Then, the guy that rides with me every weekend has the following on his YFZ. 13:1 compression piston, Cam mod, Dynojet kit, No airbox lid, Pro Design Foam filter plus billet adaptor and the thing was dyno tuned a couple of times to get the best power out of it. That exact quad I beat 2 quad lengths on the drag strip. That same YFZ450, kills DS650's, other raptors, and YFZ450's with less mods.

The only YFZ450 that beat me was a full race spec YFZ, with the same stuff as my friends YFZ, plus it had a gasflowed head, running race fuel and was raced by the pro rider himself. That YFZ beat me by a bumper and we only raced once. There was nothing between us

My raptor's motor is stock, and has never been opened. O, and yes, I did a leak test a while back to see how well the rings seal and I was loosing about 10% of my compression. My raptor uses oil and the motor needs to be fixed. Even in that condition, I beat most YFZ's

I am not here to say, the YFZ gets killed by all raptors. At the drag races I go to, the YFZ's kill most raptors, but then these do not have about a 100 hours of work in dyno time, fine tuning and special attention on them. I beat raptor with basic mods with about 3 quad lengths easy. None of the bikes I race are pure drag spec bikes. They are mostly used for trail riding and we do organized drag race every month or so.

O, and I have raced about 40 different YFZ's with all kinds of setups, The only one so far that got me was the race spec one, done by a shop specializing in building racing quads.

The only other quads that beat me are banshees. But then none of them are even remotely stock. The one is making around 70 to 80 HP and it flies past me like I am looking for parking. So, yes, I do get beat, but not by a run of the mill YFZ.

I have a compleate yousi titainum system and i can beat any quad with other compleate pipes. My yousi system might not have the hp to say it is great but it performes as good or better than others. The only way to truly say what mod or quad is faster is to switch quads and race multiple times. then you wil see who will win.

Its all a big pissing contest but if your talking about percentage gains dyno numbers are where its at. You all have over 6 grand, probably more like 8Gs invested in your bikes and I'll spank you all on my Twisted and welded decade and a half year old 1989 Quadzilla that has just over 3 grand total investment. All I have is a pipe and filter too

And he's not saying Yoshi is a bad pipe, he's saying out of Pro circut, Yoshi, Sparks, and CT racing that the yoshi came in 4th. Worst of four of the best. Thats the same thing as an olympic swimmer who just missed getting the bronze metal. yeah he didnt win but still better then Everybody else besides the other three.

your right on that freez but possibly the yoshi pipe wasnt deisgned as good for the raptor as is for the yfz450, but you having that work done on yours could make you faster but its more in the rider too... but i highly doubt yoshi pipes give little increase in performance...

everyone is posting junk, about who beat who. bottom line the 450s are fast and we all know this, and they are light.

bottom line..
two equals weight riders.
two equal bike, same work done
that raptor is going to win

now i only loose to lightened 450s, and 125lb pilots. keep in mind with me on my bike im pushing. 675lbs. thats resepctable, although i have minor engine work.
