Default 87 or 93 octane in a Raptor

In the manaual it says to use regular unleaded gas, but then when you look on the air box lid it says use at least 91 octane...?

I run it on premium, doesn't seem to hurt, nor did it on regular.

I heard/know that preminum burns cleaner so I think I'll stick with it, what do you guys think?

MIke.

you would prob be fine with low octane gas unless you were really rippin hard or it was a very hot day. On my ds for around home i run 89 octane and when i go to the dunes or where im going to rip really hard i fill up with 91 octane.

stock raptor runs better and cooler on 87 gas. engines make maximum power on the least possible octane without detonation. 87 is perfect, 92 is over kill on a stock raptor, low low compression

yes you may actually be losing power when you run the premium. i have run both and i run best on 89, never gets too hot, and this seems to feel the best power wise too.
just my .02

yea me too, i run 87 and 89, sometimes, runs the best. everyone thinks more octane=more power, and "oh yea, 92 octane burns cleaner and makes more power".. wrong! only if you have the compression its unneccesary and makes it harder on your engine.

Thats what I figured, I know more octane doesn't make more poweron its own, it just prevents detention when you have a higher compression, so you can make more power. I'll run 89 or 87 from now on. Figures no use in spending more when you don't need it.

I just wanted to see what you guys had to say about this.

If you consider ripping it up, playing around on the MX track, then thats my most extreme. I due tend to stay in the lower gear, higher revs, when I'm doing that.

Thanks,

MIke.

you should still be fine with 89, if you're stock compressoin then everyhting should still be gravy.

you will be fine too, better off actually with 89 at the highest. as long as you dont mess with the compression ratio of the engine then octane is no issue.
