Can I use a Grizzly
#1
Can I put tracks on a Grizzly and use it to pull a big box drag and do about 25 miles of snowmobile trails about 6-8 times a year??
Or should I go with a 700 Sportsman??
I know both machines you couldnt tell if the drag was on BUT
All of the stories I have heared about axles breaking on the Grizzlys So I am considering a Polaris Sportsman 700
The 04 and 05 Grizzlys are a bit much in price so I would probly end up with an 02 Grizzly
Which machine would be better for putting tracks on it and dragging??
Each day my machine will be parked in a heated garage no I need to worry about tearing off CV boots
Does it Really matter which machine I buy as long as I am careful on the Grizzly and the Sportsman??
I am also considering a Rubicon but I would like a machine with more power and disc brakes
All replies welcome
Thanks
Daniel

I know this is the Yamaha forum and I might take some stuff for saying this, but have you thought about the Suzuki Twin peaks(Kawi Parrie 700). My local Suzuki dealeship has a Twin Peaks with the Tracks on it. My dad also has a Twin Peaks(without tracks), and it has a TON of power for pulling and stuff. As far as snow goes, I know someone that has a Polaris 700 with tracks on it and they say it goes great in snow.

My tracks should be in any day now. Unfortunately they will be in N. Dakota and I am in Afghanistan. You'll have to wait til Aug. for a test report.
Wasn't 02 the year they made the thin axles or was it 03.
04 Griz, what kind of tracks did you have. I'm getting the ADB's so I can keep my normal speed and gas milage.
For anyone looking into buying tracks, check out ATV Tracks.com. On the first of May they go up $500.

I know one year they made the axles real thin for some reason, I'm just not sure what year it was.

In an honest opinion, stay away from belts and go with gears. This weekend I did 50 miles 1 way pulling a boat trailer full of gear in the mountains total weight was about 1200lbs, I can tell you know, a geared machine gives you piece of mind. I was travelling from 15-35mph in high range, the average was 25mph as the trailer would really bounce if you went too fast. I own a 2002 Traxter XT, that is the tractor of ATV's and is pretty fast for a UTE this size.
I'm not taking away from the Grizzly or Sportsman, but 1 of there main problems is you would definatley have to be in LOW gear the top end is like 15mph on both and you'll burn alot more fuel as there going to rev more and be working really hard. The tracks your putting on will also put alot of strain on the belt plus the load your pulling.
The 03-05 Traxter's also ride alot better then mine.
If your set on 1 of these, go with the Grizzly as I did lots of research and the SP 700's need lots of TLC to keep running right, where the grizz can be abused and not break down, within reason of course, the 04-05 have no more axle problems either.
The Polaris is beautiful and I would love one but I'm at 3600 miles on my traxter right now and have not changed a thing, and there's too many uncertainty's with the Polaris machines especially when you don't like to have to maintain them all the time.
