I would rather the banshee die then replace it with a 4 joke engine. Why ruin the image. Just make another raptor/yfz450/what ever looking quad and name it after the raptor or some $hit after the raptor all atvs have been looking the same in my opinion its starting to suck. Yamaha got lazy on the yfz 450, rap350, 80, 50, 62.. ect... It' kinda like dodge how many vehicles can have the same style front end. I'll stick with my bike screw the new $hit

The Raptor 660 in stock form is nothing but a play bike for the wanna-be racer and average consumer looking for something that fits the place of the Warrior (Now,..Raptor) 350,..but with more power,...and that is the intent of the product when it leaves the factory.
Sure, you can spend several thousand to make it better at this...and better for that...but you still started out with a play bike. A 500 twin putting out several more horsepower and a much lower center of gravity makes perfect sense to me.
Besides, overall, worldwide..the Banshee is still the king of hill shooting and drag racing when it comes down to expense of modifications and affordability of the AVERAGE rider in that form of competition.
So are you saying the Banshee is also a "play bike"? Last time I checked it was pretty weak from the factory. Yamaha knew just what they were doing when the 660 left the factory. They knew if they made a solid platform the aftermarket area would build on it. I think you forgot that the 450 was Yamaha's first time making a quad race ready from the factory. If you didn't notice, aftermarket parts are what made Yamahas so big in the first place. People don't want to beat you on a quad that everyone knows will win from the factory, they want to beat you on one you never thought would even line up with you. Thats the whole point. In this forum alone we could have people who swear by the YFZ450 while others would never give up their 660 or 700 big bores... yet there will be guys who will never own a 4 stroke. Why is EFI on the 700 and not the 450? ..you got the group of motorcycle techs who will love EFI or you got the group who will take jets over a laptop anyday.. The choice is there...

Not to get off topic... but the 07 Phazer is gonna be an intese sled! It's based on the YZ platform. It looks like a atv with ski's. It's probably going to be the sled that guys riding sport bikes says, "damn... I'd ride that beast" And that engine, the Genesis 80 is gonna be a screamer I'm guessin. EFI, twin... 500cc's on a sled that under 500 Lbs it'll react more like a quad/dirtbike. Once my quads paid off... I'm picking up a Phazer FX.
