That is almost the exact set up i have right now..A lrd pipe and 30mm pwk carb no air box..You will see huge gain's just from that pipe and carb..with that setup i was nippin at my buddies piped 400ex heel's..Not to sure about the dirt bike's there usually beast's..You would have to get something like shav0 has to run with some of those i would think

The dirt bikes are in a world of their own, defently some fast machines. However, with the right set-up its not impossible. 400ex's can be a easy win for the blaster, again depending on your mods. Other bikes, such as the yz,kx, and rm's (125's) are in reach, but will require alot more then a carb and pipe change. By doing simple mods such as pipes, carbs, reeds, your not really gaining speed but you can step up the sprocket size a bit in the front, or drop some teeth in the rear and gain the extra speed your looking for. Just remember what you gain on the top, you loose on the bottom.

you guys dont understand the theories of gears(inside the tranny) you can have a blaster with the same size sprockets and tires go the same speed if one is 5 speed and the other 6 gear, but you would need different gears on the 5 speed to be able to reach the top spede of the 5, blasters have 6 speeds because they dont have the biggest, torquiest engine, thats why you see the 4 strokes(dirtbikes) with 4speed trannies, because they dont need all the gears to get up to top speed, they can lug through the gears, which is what makes 4 strokes easier to ride.

oh and by the way porting and reeds will give you a HUGE boost
i can get you a good deal on porting if you want to PM me, i could probably get you reeds at the same time as well.
