Rear Brake/Master Cylinder etc. Problem, I need help.
#1
I got a 2004 Raptor 660R, I fixed the recall on the rear brakes about a year ago.
Ok, I don't have any rear brakes. The peddle started getting really spongy 2 weeks ago last time I rode it, and today, there was no braking power when I pressed it all the way down. I brought it home to get it fixed since I stil have warrenty but I want to try to do it myself if possible.
Heres what I know/think.
My parking brake works fine, so I'm guessing its nothing to do with the piston or caliper.
When I press the brake to the ground, it bearly moves the pads in. And I can push it by hand and move the quad with my rear brake fully ingauged,
I tried taking the caliper off clearing, then I bled the brakes, no good, I bled them again and I ran out of fluid so tomorrow I'm going to buy more. Correct me if I'm wrong buts its DOT 4 right?
I am guessing there are 2 things that could still be bad. Either the master cylinder has to be bled itself cause its got air caught in it, or its the master cylinder is shot. I'm guessing a seal went, but its not leaking anything from it, or on any other part of the rear brake.
What do you guys think??? I'm going to take it in, but I want to try to do it myself if its nothing major.
MIke.
