I've used a product in the past called Wurth Fixall from the sound of it the 3m product that was suggested is an exact copy of it. It's always worked great for me. I'm not sure if they sell to the pubic or not but you should check out their website (wurthusa) i've also seen people selling tubes of it on ebay before. I would also use some reinforcement tape on it basically a fiberglass mesh tape(any body shop supply store should have it)
