I got my 2001 wolverine in augest. They are a great ATV. I haven't had any flaws. They are good jumpers for a 4x4. The Wolverine handels great in the mud and soon i will be able to tell you about the snow. it is great in all conditions. I have had a good time andit handels well in the water. The nice thing about it is with it's sporty engine , its 4x4 traction and is smaller than a 500 size, you can keep up with just about every ATV in every condition. it is stable and powerful while still being light agile and fun to play with. For a detailed reoport check out atv connection (this website) under the ATV reviews. it will give you a good idea of the ATV. One suggestion is to keep your tires around 5-7 psi. not the reccomended 3-3 1/2. Ir really will be a much better ride and will handle better in the mud because of increased clearence. the tread patter in great and the softness of the tire doesn't really matter
I would reccomend that you get CV boot guards. i profer the oxlite metal ones which also protect your A- Arms and entire joints from damageinstead of the $60 kevlar ones which only protect the boots. If you are riding rocky trail conditions the botom is not protected and the metal plate protecting the rear dif. is not much to rave about. get the skid plates.
One final note i have is make sure if you buy used to get a '97 or later. as explained in the article by ATV connection, on the 96 and earlier modlels there was a 36" minuki instead of the now 34". The reason for this is because the engine is from the worrior and at first they didn't realize the wolverine doesn't get quite as much airflow. The problem with this is that the engine hesitates when you punch it. that is the only problem. as you can tell i researched it well as would any 15 year old layin down the cash for a 6 grand ATV. Thats about what it came to after all the charges. The dealers won't budge on the price and there is a lot of assembely on yamaha ATV's in general. I researched this aspect too. Each dealer only gets one, or maybe if they are large, two a year. because of this theyare hard to find. you may have to call around. If a dealer doesn't have one in stock and they say if you put money down they can find you one chances are they are lying and you will be waiting around for a year. Your best bet is to buy one off the lot. I would suggest you get the blue. Other than the color the wheel rims and front bumper are diffrent. For blue they are metalic silver and for green tey are a metalic tan or light brown. The green doesn't do anything for me.
Well, if you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Sorry about the spelling i know it isn't great but hey, i'm 15.
