Default Yamaha 4X4 question

Can you switch from 2X4 to 4X4 on the fly? Say approx. 15 mph. Without the wheels spinning of course. In particular the Grizzly and Kodiak 450. Thanks.

As long as your not on the throttle you can, and like you said without wheels spinning. Thats how it is with my Bruin, so it should be the same for the Griz and Kodiak.

You mean both wheels spinning at same speed!

And I was joking before!

Default Yamaha 4X4 question

I find I can flick the 2wd to 4wd switch anytime i want..but it wont switch until the front and back driveshafts both spin at the same rpm. No bad noises, no problems. Same for coming out of 4wd, the switch can be flicked anytime, but it wont actually come out of 4wd until the load on both driveshafts are equal. ..usually just an easing up on the throttle, will lighten the load enough to let it go back into 2wd.Ive done this at up to top speed, about 50 mph. Speed isnt the limiting factor, its the difference in rotational speed of the front and rear driveshafts.
Diff lock is different, I try to be rolling slowly, when i switched it in, and when the display is solid red...youre good to go.
