Default 2006 Wolverine 450

Guys, its just an ole 2000-2004 Kodiak chassis, with the 2004 Kodiak 421cc (only 20cc bigger than the 2000my 401cc) motor. They slapped o new plastic and changed the name. It lost 35lbs worth of racks trailer hitch and larger tires. I tradded my 98 wolverine back in 1999 for 2000 kodiak. I loved my Kodiak, so I am sure its a good quad that is fun to ride, Its not really what I would call a new quad, nore will it perform anywhere nere the level of a Brute or prairie 650/700 SRA chassis quads, so I am not sure I would have put it in the sport quad section.

It's alright....but auto tranny is a bummer, and no racks. On the bright side, the stock tires seem better and there is actually some mud protection between the footpegs and the front tires. I am definitely anxious to hear about some test rides.

If you check out some ride reviews on the 2003-2004 Kodiak 450, it should have about the same peformance numbers unlees they didn't change the clutching for the shorter tires. It might have a little more low end and less top end. I dobt the 30 pounds mainly in sprung wheight would be very noticable.

I do like the looks of the white and silver one, If I were in the market for a 400cc class quad it would be at the top of my list. I loved my 2000 Kodiak. It was allot of fun to ride too. Allot more fun IMO than my 98 Wolverine. Do to the switchable 2wd/4wd.

I had high hopes for an update when I first heard rumors of one. Instead Yamaha just raided the parts bin of other models. The Wolverine needed to lose 25-30 lbs., not gain 39 lbs. It needed an honest 450-500 cc's while retaining the manual tranny, instead we get a wanna-be 450 coupled to a rubber band. I'm glad I bought mine when I did, the 06 is a major disappointment to me.

This is one time I'm grateful to have the old Wolverine. The automatic has to go. It is pretty ugly IMO. It's about time with the selectable 2wd/4wd! Except for the larger engine size and 2wd/4wd, I REALLY like the old one better. I think Yamaha missed the mark on this one.

I think Yamaha missed the concept that people were looking for on this quad. Yes they put a more powerfull motor in it, but AUTO!!!! Oh my! The styling is off to, IMO. They did make is switchable 2x4/4x4, which is good. I guess we will see what the compatition has in store to compare.

Im really dissapointed in this quad to, It should at least have racks. And not be an auto if they want it sporty. If they are going to try and make a croos bred sport/ute, at least do it right.

Its only 30 #'s lighter than the kodiaks that it was based on.

It will be fun to ride, but just don't expect it to run with the big dog's.

BF650's for only 500.00 bucks more (with racks and a locker) will eat the wolverine for breakfast.

I had always hoped the new wolverine would have been a 5 speed with a 660 or larger. That would have made it a contender.

I guess they thought we would all forget about the SRA Kodiak from 2000-2004, If they were going to do a parts shelf quad they could have a least made an effort to use the 660 motor. They also could have just gave the old mdl a 2wd/4wd switch and it would have been just as fast and it would still had the 5 speed.
