Well, man the best way to get all your answers is to do a search of say v-force vs. raptor or predator vs. raptor but yes the raptor is an extremely powerful machine and no you will not be able to floor it all the time, unless you want to die young. And people trash it b/c they are either brand bias or they just cant seem to beat one on the track or perhaps even had a bad expirence on one. Regardless it is a fine bike for trail riding and my modds are nothing special but they are listed below

Raptor is an awesome machine more than enough power... I have a friend that just got a yfz450 this year the kid is a bit of a ***** rider but i always smoke him, his is bone stock and he doesnt really know what he is doing but u should be able to keep up with one or if u put alot of money into ur bike u can prolly beat one through the gears and not only top end. the raptor rides awesome comfortable seat and it will bring the wheels up easy if u dont watch ur self. if ur looking into getting a new wheeler u should try and find a couple people willing to let you ride theirs so u have something to compare them to quads are basically personal preff.

Yea the power core definitely helps the performance eventhough I have never riddin the raptor with the stock pipe I am sure it makes a big difference and If you are just starting out in atv riding I dont suggest getttin the raptor maybe sumthin smaller with a much smaller learining curve but I am sure with a few hard lessions learned to can be done by a novice

I started out with the raptor and it was a beast, but now I sold it! I just got into the whole racing track thing and the raptor just wont cut it there. But other than that, it has great power and amazing torque, you could easily wheelie going down hill, well that may just be me! J/K! It handles good, and it has good speed, it will beat the V-Force and the Predator, but don't get me wrong, you will get beat by them too. If you want a trail, dune, drag bike, the raptor is good for you, and it is a bike for the "Big Boys." And about the mods, a pipe will really help out the raptor alot, the stock one is too restricitve, along with it should go a good air filter so your engine could breath better. If you want to get into the engine, you could always bump it into a 686, 700, 727 etc. But that may a be a bit early for you. Hope that helped.

yep, its agreat help, is the yfz450 a lot better on the tracks, and can the raptor pull away in the straights? i have been told than the raptor loses its position to a yfz 450 through bends, but if a rider [o the yfz 450] weighed 30kg more than me, then in theory i should trounce him on the raptor. shouldnt i?

the yfz is deffinatly faster through the low gears but ive heard that at about 4th gear you would start to pull on them or catch up and eventually pass them, the yz is a higher rev-ing bike so its meant to just shoot from turn to turn on a race track. the raptor just has a higher top speed. you could always gear the yz differently and it would walk on the raptor on high speeds but its not really made for that. and to answer your question the yfz is alot better on tracks thats what the company had in mind when they were making it, its their full out race quad

From my experience, sotck for stock on a YFZ and a Raptor, a 300 foot drag a YFZ will win. They get so far ahead during the low end that it takes about high fourth to fifth gear for the Raptor to catch up....and even then, there is only about 2-3 MPH difference between the two. If your talking about like a 1/8 mile drag between the two, the Raptor will win but only by about 1 bike length. If your talking about a track, the Raptor holds NO CHANCES. If your looking for an awesome trail bike, so with the Raptor. Anything else, go with the YFZ. I love my Raptor, mainly because I trail ride mostly with enough track to not let the Raptor get me down. I am about to widen the front though 2 inches and the back 4 though, so I think it will do a lot better.
