What makes the YFZ so much faster than the Raptor,honestly?

No, we didn't bet slips, just a little friendly competition. If I ditch the lid, and re-jet it,would I have problems sucking in dirt or dust? I
have an outerwears on a K&n filter.
So, if you took a stock raptor, installed a high compresion piston and cam set up, port and polish the head, along w/ full exhaust/filter/jetted, It should smoke anything short of a modded banshee, right? Or whould you have to bore it?

dotn bet on that it comes with rider too but yea everyone here is right distance of the drag too... yfz450 is a sick bike just like the old 250r's that are still around quick little suckers... dont worry about dirt have your outerware on and you're all good just check it after each ride and how much build up and clean it etc..

The yfz is faster because it is lighter and a more power effecient engine. But its not that much faster. With your mods and depending on rider skill you can win this race.

CCs dont mean anything, like someone said already its like a banshee, instant power when you hit the throttle. The weight isnt a huge advantage but still has some. YFZs are made for MX tracks so they need the power hitting the jumps, getting holeshots, suspension wise etc....

You can think of it like an XR650 vs. a CRF450r. The CRF motor is a race bred motor designed to maximize output while maintaining a light weight motor/chassis design. Race machines are simply built to be as powerful as possible and as light as possible. To do all of this requires R&D which is $$$. That's what you're paying for when you buy a YFZ or any race machine for that matter. The same technology that is in the YFZ is not in the 660 therefore the 660 is not maximizing it's potential until mods are performed.

When my YFZ still just had a white brothers pipe and jets and the free cam mod.. I could beet my friends 660 which had a FMF powercor 4, k&n airfilter,and some other stuff done to it i could beet him by quite a bit expecially on excelleration.. So if i was you i wouldn't be betting any money on this race unless the person on the YFZ can drive very good at all

i have a raptor with a r4 white bros. pipe, jetted of course, and a hot cam. i can get the best hole shot and think im going to when..... but those darn yfz's accelerate so fast they catch and pass you qiuckly. it blows your mind the first time you se it. any way i have a 05 yfz now and love it!

the YFZ's engine is so much better design wise, and the YFZ's transmission also is way better the best upgrade to do to a raptor to keep up with a YFZ is the 770 over bore, or even better, sell it and get a YFZ!

The Highest peak hp I have seen on a dyno sheet is right at 80 hp on a fully modded raptor engine(no bottle). 57 (no bottle)is the highest I have seen on a fully modded yfz.
The Chassis design stock for stock the yfz is superior. Weight transfer and setup are the key to drag racing.
In short, The only yfz that I have seen run with some of the fastest raptors out there was an 220lb drag frame yfz. He was on alky but a stock bore and stroke. Very fast indeed.
