Default Grizzly?

I've owned just about every big bore made except a Honda and a Yamaha. I'm in the market for one again. I took the approach of wiping the slate clean of old perceptions and closely studying every available big bore available. I almost committed to buying a Grizzly the other day but backed out because I felt I needed more time to make the right decision.

HELP ME DECIDE!!!

I want a big bore but I don't want to pay $8,000 or more for it. I ride in river basins that include high water and thick mud. I also have a 1,500 acre dear lease. Speed used to be my most influential factor when purchasing a big bore but not anymore. I want very decent power and lots of comfort. All these factors point to either a Grizzly or a Sportsman. I CAN'T DECIDE!!

Please share your thoughts......

good bike and can be found for 6k or less new. But, there are better bikes out these days.

King Quad
Brute Force

Ours didn't start overheating until 2 years after we bought it. Now it just pises me off when it does. I tend to only ride it for hunting season now (you know, DEER )

I've owned both the KQ and the BF. I hated them both for different reasons. The price is part of the charm of the Grizz.

I have a 02 Grizzly and have ridden the hair off the thing since I got it....no problems as of yet. Where we ride in the Southeastern part of the state it is rough...real rough at times. We ride mountains, hills and streams and I've never lacked for power yet. Granted there may come the day but it hasn't happend yet. Plus the Grizz has a nice smooth ride while doing it.

In fact I ride with two friends of mine that own Polaris quads...one has a 500 HO and one has a 400 they go just as many places as I do. The only difference I can see is that i burn more fuel doing it than they do. I do think that the Grizz is one of the best bangs for your buck going. I'm in know way brand loyal...I don't care what you ride...as long as you ride. I think they all make good quads now.

Like the song says "Talk is for losers and fools"

Later....Paul

Mine has sputtered once when I hit a water hole while I was going pretty fast. They havent changed much if any form 02 to 05 so I'm sure some of them still do sputter under the right conditions. Poor design on Yamaha's part.
