Hey everyone,

Several months back, the neighbor and I bought our other neighbor an '89 blaster. He is currently working off the cost...mowing lawns, helping around the house(s) etc. Well, the crank has gone bad and we are trying to figure out the best, lowest-cost way to get his motor rebuilt. Since he is working off the cost of the bike with us, we are not paying him. Thus, he does not have the $'s for a new crank assy. If anyone has any good resources, or an extra crank assy sitting around, I would gladly take any help you can provide. Thanks.

i would suggest buying a new hot rods crank. for the money it is well worth it. it sounds to me like you don't want to put any $ in this bike at all. i would just save the hassle and drop the $. it would be a nice piece of mind. i used to have a blaster w/ a bad crank. that bike's crank is very easy to replace. probably a two day job if you take your time. just thank god you dont have to buy a banshee crank, i got about 550.00 in mine.

 

Thx...I'll check out their prices. The reason we don't want to drop $'s is that he is 15. He is a great kid. Unfortunately, he comes from a poor family. We bought it for him so he could come and have fun with us (we are kind of like big brothers to him, although we're both 40). We can afford it, but it is his bike and we want him to understand the responsibilities and costs.

He has been looking far and wide to no avail. So I guess we'll just have to add this to his IOU.]

the only other thing i could say is check e-bay or the back of magazines for retailers that sell used parts. you might be able to save some green there. it is going to be very unlikely that you will find someone looking to give a good crank away.

 

This item is brand spankin new never installed, all rings and gaskets are sealed. This piston creates an estimated 8 horsepower increase at the rear wheel (i have the dyno graphs that came with the piston to prove the increase) ,i purchased the item for a 2000 blaster but im sure it will fit any other year as there were no drastic changes to the motor. I can email pictures if you like. Im letting it go for $100.00, will ship anywhere,but the buyer will pay the shipping costs!
