HMF Wolverine
#1
Hey guys, I just got my new HMF Slip-on for my 04 Wolverine and it is pretty awesome. I also just put in a replacement K&N w/ outerwear. The pipe came with a new main jet so I installed it after I put on the pipe. It was a 142.5 that replaced the stock 141.3 main. This doesn't seem like a very big jump to me. Can anyone give me some advice. What size mains are some of you guys running? Is there anything else that I should adjust as well? Thanks for all your help. Oh yeah, I sounds great!!!

did you have to make any other adjustments? I think that it is a little bit hesitant just off idle. I'm looking to get a little extra bottom end to help me bring up the front end a little better so I can wheelie easier. Any suggestions?

I was running a 145 with the stock motor, plus HMF and Uni-Filter. I think I was a tad rich though. Just check your plug, make sure it is not white after running it at WOT and doing a throttle chop. I would have to think you are pretty close.

Hey Ganz, what part of Wisconsin are you from? I am down by Lake Geneva. I have a FMF and put in a 145 and had a stumble so I thought it was a little lean in the midrange and dropped my needle a notch to richen it up and it runs like crap? It really bugs me that I can not narrow it down. I am at the point to take it some where and I am not mechanically disabled.

I'm about 15 miles East of Madison in Deerfield. Your stumble may not be a lean condition. Lean usually will back fire out the exhaust after a WFO run. You may be to rich. I had a burble when I was too rich. While your set up isn't quiet the same as mine I may be able to help. What I did was to jet it really rich, run it. Drop a size & run it. I kept doing that untill the motor ran strong. You'll know when you hit it right. You'll have no burble, no hesitation and no back firing out the exhaust. I probably didn't have to move the clip but I did just to be on the safe side of jetting it. The other thing I would do is to take apart your carb and clean it first. Make sure that part is good and then work from there. If you don't have an inline gas filter put one on, it's cheap insurance.
