yeha this noob kid from my school wanted a 4-wheel sport. he was looking at the raptors and his dad said no because he thought that ALL YAMAHAS had tranny problems, so he then got a 250 TB. lol.I told him he could not handle one even if he did get one..and that hes moron for missing out on a raptor over a 250 (semi?) auto Atv.

Not ALL yamaha trannys are unreliable, but they have had more bad trannys than Honda or kawasaki.
(cant speak for Suzuki, I think they have a lot of bad apples too)

Lots of older yamaha R6 trannys went bad, old YZF600 or FZR600 trannys went bad, 01 raptor trannys bad.

But, I had a 99 R1 that was great. (but only had 12K miles when I sold it)
I also have a 97 Banshee that has been solid. I think the old Banshee tranny is probably the best yamaha tranny ever.

These trannys stand up to some serious HP, are very reliable, and date back to 87'.

ya know why honda dont have many bad tranny's, cuz they dont try to make a new style, Yamaha makes cutting edge tranny's, and they often have a week link, then once they get it figured out, honda steals the idea and behold, it works freekin perfect every time... Down with honda

THATS why Honda doesnt make bad trannys? Well damn, I didnt know.

I guess back in the 1970's when Honda was producing the ATC 70's and later the 90's that still run and shift perfect today, we can thank YAMAHA for that right?
And the bulletproof Honda 250R trannys from early 80's that still shift perfecly today.... that was Yamaha's inovation.. huh?

Since the 250R's came out with the 6 speed... THEN the Yamaha Banshee 6 speed, 400EX 5 speed, THEN Yamaha Raptor 5 speed....
Well shoot.. I can see what you mean by Yamaha leading the way in cutting edge trannys!!

(we wont even get into the FZR and old YZF streetbikes vs the Honda CBR F1, F2, F3......)

Keep in mind that I own and Love my yamaha Banshee... but then again I have owned them all so I am a realist.
