Which sport quad is faster than my 2000 Yamaha WR400F with a K&N Air Filter and performance baffle on my muffler and free mods. I've raced a Kawasaki KX125 and beat him pretty easily! I know no sport quad could keep up with me once I topped out at 90 + MPH!!

I would love to see a slip of a top speed run of your bike. I remember that a stock (and very restricted) WR400 would run 93mph on a radar gun again and again. I wouldn't be surprised if yours is closer to 100mph (or more) with the mods that you have.

Wow that would be awesome to do 100 mph but scary! If i put different gearing sprockets on it and performance exhaust and big bore and all the mods I could do to it it would go 120 I bet. The fasted i've been on it is 85 MPH and that's scary on the road. I could beat any quad I know on top speed but only a few might would beat me on acceleration. Nobody can keep with me on my trails I have in the woods behind my house. Ha Ha

2001 DRZ400S stock will run 111mph by its speedo... never clocked it with radar gun.... but with other cars... its accurate as far as we can tell. i live on a road thats literally 2.4 miles of straight aways... mostly flat... i was in an arrow tuck and holding as close as i could to the bike... i backed out of it at 103mph. ive done searches online and found that its top speed is supposed to be between 110 and 111mph. if you would like ill try to find them again... but im tellin you what i did and how i did it. want proof? race me. thers your proof... other drz400 owners... got theirs to 103mph as well. stock speedo some say is off by 10% which would make my top speed at 93... BUT that was with stock tires that its off... i have big nobbies on mine... bigger tires... faster top speed. so it was still very close if not over 100mph. ride one once... you will see why we all bought them. I guess it has a higher top speed than my WR400F because it's mainly a dual-sport dirtbike and mine is from the YZ line up but a fast enduro bike. I know in accleration I could be a DRZ400. My bike is equal to a stock Honda XR650 in acceleration but not top speed. I could do a lot of mods to make it go over 120 mph but if you won't to go that fast why not buy a sport bike because the fastest you would ever won't to go on trails and off-road would be between 60 - 70 MPH! I mostly ride on trails and the fastest I ride is about 40 MPH on my trails.

Two different bikes being compared here.

The fair match between these two would be to compare the offroad DRZ to the WR.

The off road DRZ model does 80mph flat with 38.4 HP The WR is 93mph with 43.5 HP

either way... 85mph is not scary... at all.... i rode home last night from work at 90+ on my drz with full set of **** on it... thats all i was getting at.. but something else i would like to point out is that the DRZ400S model makes 38hp... the DRZ400E has a different carb and soemething else on it and it gets into the low 40s... i know its under 45hp.. but its more than the "S" model. just something i wanted to correct. atleast this ishow it is to my knowlege.. i looked up ways to get more power and that was one of the options. peace.
