I would replace it. You are going to be in the middle of nowhere when that thing finally stops working. All that noise is making metal chips in your case.

warrior starter clutch PLEASE HELP ME
mine has been doing the same thing, and just today I looked at the oil filter and sure enough- metal shavings. I'm not real familiar with the starting system- where is the starter clutch at, and what would be required to replace it? how much would one cost? thanks for any help you guys can give me, i'm lost on this one.

warrior starter clutch PLEASE HELP ME
My 1990 is finally making the "clunk, clunk" on start-up as described. I dont ride it much anymore but it's got TONs of hours on it. I decided to buy a flywheel, starter clutch, and gear combo used from E-bay off of a 1992. Figured it should be better than mine ?....got it for $46. I dont recommend buying used parts for something you plan to ride a lot but since I dont ride it much I figured I'd risk it.
If you buy a new starter clutch - which is the right thing to do - plan on buying a new gear too....the old clutch has likely messed up the surface where the one-way bearings ride. I had to do that with my Raptor as well. To change: Pop the flywheel off (you'll need the FW puller) and simply unbolt the starter clutch....it's easy to do. Good Deal: Ebay Fylwheel+starter clutch+gear |

is the flywheel cover the one on the left side about 6 inches across, where the recoil starter is on the old warriors?

Replace it dude, you can fix a known problem on your own time as opposed to stranding yourself somewhere.

Sounds exactly like ours!!! Just sounds like huge clunks against the case or something. Its in the shop right now because the clutch is going and we're trying to get it to last a bit longer, so i think they'll fix it too. Good luck on it
