The backfire screen is located inside the air filter and is very restrictive. I put a GYTR airfilter mount and filter on it today and it eliminates the screen.
The pipes are only making minimal gains without remapping or the addition of a Dobeck unit or a Power Commander

The backfire screen is inside the airfilter..

I just put on a new GYTR air filter and billet mount today, I think the 700R is a very good all around machine. At least for my usage..
As of now,, Stock for stock there is no comparison with the 660 Raptor.. In power or handling.

Wow, look at how the power falls off drastically at high rpm.

Some issues there?? the Stock air filter is restrictive with the backfire screen. Could also be a headpipe.
HMF stopped testing the headpipe untill they get a Filter and remove the screen. Could the dropoff be the reason why.

I checked with the dealer I purchased my 700R from the other day and thet have nothing for the 700's yet

I just got my Power Commander III USB yesterday and installed it last night loaded the stock air filter with air box lid removed with stock pipe with baffle removed map. Fired her up and took her for a ride. Holy sheep dip! Talk about instant throttle response. I am now a beliver in the Power commander, boy what a difference it made in what I already thought was a good running quad. This thing is a blast to ride. I'll find out tomorrow how it does at the dunes

Whats the best air filter setup for all kinds of riding, in the summer i ride in very dusty conditions then in winter i ride in very muddy and some snow riding, i dont want to have problems if i pull the lid, what do you guys think, also i think im gonna wait to some more pipes from different companies come out before i pick one up, also do you guys think the dobeck is a good investment for this bike, where are you buying them from and how much, thanks
